We have an excellent track record helping clients gain planning permission.

With most local planning authorities now requiring arboricultural information prior to registering a planning application, it pays for architects to work alongside an experienced tree consultancy able to advise on the issues faced.

We have many years’ experience assisting architects in all manner of tree-related issues. We prepare all reports using latest technology for speed and accuracy, and present information to the LPA in the format they require, helping to expedite planning permission. As required, we are happy to attend site meetings and provide the necessary support.

We recommend an assessment of any tree-related constraints, such as statutory protection or planning policy, is carried out as soon as the potential development is being considered. This information will help you to maximise the development potential and provide you with a competitive advantage. It can also be used when dealing with the vendor to determine the real value of a site.

Prior to arranging a pre-app, we recommend you seek advice and agree a strategy on addressing trees, as this will place you in a stronger position to progress the desired development at the meeting.

Where trees are growing within or close to the site boundary, a full tree survey in accordance with BS5837 2012 is generally required and we recommend this be carried out as early as possible in the layout design process. We can undertake this for you and, as the layout evolves, advise on potential solutions.

When the layout plan is fixed, we can provide the necessary Arboricultural Report, including an Arboricultural Impact Assessment, Tree Protection Plan and Arboricultural Method Statement. These reports outline the development’s impact on existing trees, benefits of tree retention and the necessary tree protection measures.

When planning consent has been obtained, we can assist with the discharge of tree related conditions to help ensure the project runs smoothly and can assist with tree surgery and clearance works.

If planning permission is refused, we can advise on the best response relating to any tree issues raised and are experienced in presenting written and verbal evidence at planning enquiries.
